4 New Ways You Should Be Marketing Your Business in 2021
Every year business owners are faced with a list of new platforms and apps to master so they can reach their audience. Let’s get real here, it’s exhausting!! Running a business and having to stay on top of the latest trends is a lot to manage. So I’ve decided to come up with a few of my favourite tried and true digital marketing trends you can EASILY tackle this year (regardless of the latest update).
Stop using negative “fear-based” marketing
One of the classic marketing tactics is to prey on your client’s fears. Hello diet ads for the perfect bikini body… Can we please leave these in 2020 never to return again! Why would you want to start your relationship with your clients by scaring them into working with you? You can tap into the same emotion from a much more positive place.
Tell your story (the unfiltered one)
It’s becoming more and more popular on social media to NOT use a filter. And I’m not just talking about actual filters. Your customers want to see all sides of your business. The good days and the bad. It’s how you can connect with them and help them feel like they know you. So ditch the filter and get real about the triumphs and struggles of running your business and balancing life (haha sorry “trying” to balance life).
Repurpose your content
I feel like a broken record but this is so important! I can’t believe when I work with clients that they aren’t taking one piece of content and using it everywhere. When it comes to content you have to remember you are in a vacuum of your own business and industry. You see your stuff all the time but guess what? Your audience doesn’t! So please share share share. One blog post can provide you enough content for multiple posts on social, generate stories, find its way into your newsletter, make a reel out of it, and go viral on Pinterest, just to name a few.
Okay it’s not new but Build that list
Okay okay, I know email list building isn’t a new marketing trend in 2021 but man oh man does it ever get overlooked. When it comes to ROI email marketing is the champ, by a long shot. Most of my clients see the majority of their sales come through email marketing. They say for every $1 spent on your email marketing you can typically earn $44. Facebook and IG ads work but at more of a cost, for every $1 spent on ads you’ll see $2 ROI. As for social media, tracking ROI is pretty hard.
Now let me ask you, where are you spending most of your time? My guess is social media (aren’t we all). All hope isn’t lost though, if you are optimizing your IG profile correctly, you can lead people to your email list. Check out this post to make sure you are getting all those raving fans on your email list.
