How to Upgrade your IG Profile in 5 Minutes
Your IG profile is one of the first things people find when looking you or your business up online. I’d venture to say they even check your IG before your website. So ensuring that it is optimized is super important. By making a few quick tweaks you can take your IG profile from “doing its job” to “oh yeahhhhh I want to follow this account” in no time.
Profile Picture
There are basically two options here:
A picture of your logo
A picture of your face
This will depend on your business and what you are offering. I usually lean to showing your face if you in most cases like if you are a blogger, solo service provider, or influencer. Your logo might make sense if there are multiple people working under the brand, you’re selling a product, or want to grow brand recognition.
Whichever option you choose make sure to incorporate your brand colors to stand out. If it’s a picture of you, try to pick a picture close up of your face looking at the camera with a clean background. You can also remove the background and use a brand color easily, I created a reel here on how to do it!
Searchable Name
The name on your profile is different than your handle. This name is searchable using keywords!! So along with your name or brand name, include keywords.
Description
Use emojis for your points to help them standout. You want to describe, in point form, who you serve, what problem you solve for them, and anything else unique to you. Your last point should have a CTA (call to action) leading them to a freebie, your store, etc.
Link
Utilize your link for your call to action. A really great option is to use a page on your website with various links like Linktree, BUT NOT Linktree. I say this because unless you have a paid version, you aren’t able to track your user journey. You are also not able to use your Facebook pixel (we’ll talk more about this in another post). Check out the link here to see how I’ve created it on my website.
Highlights
Your highlights can be very valuable if they are used right! I actually think they are one of the most underused functions on IG. The basics of highlights are you want to only use 4-6, too many and they get lost. Also make sure to use your brand colors for the covers and keep the title short and sweet. To level up your highlights and start driving sales with them check out my Highlight guide below. I’ll go through exactly what highlights you need to include and how to use them for your business.
