4 Mistakes Businesses Are Making On Social Media

Before we get started let me say, everyone has made one of these mistakes at least once. I know I have multiple times. So instead of mistakes maybe we’ll call them reminders because we can all use a little reminder sometimes.

  1. Not being consistent
Oh the golden rule of digital marketing, consistency. Are we really ever consistent with anything all the time? Probably not, but that’s life, things ebb and flow. What’s important here though is having systems in place so that if you stop being consistent for whatever reason, you have a framework to quickly and easily get back on track. For me, it’s using my value-based marketing strategy. When I fall off the wagon of consistently marketing my business I have a framework that doesn’t change that I can go back to and easily implement.

  2. Not having a strategy
Remember that framework I just talked about? It’s the strategy generated from that framework that I’m talking about now. You could consistently be posting and releasing content but without a strategy how do you know where you’re going? Not only that, having a strategy will make content creation a million times easier to execute.

  3. Not repurposing your content
If content creation is dragging you down, are you sure you’re exhausting every piece you create? What I mean is from one content idea you should be able to produce upwards of 9 different pieces of content for your marketing strategy. Don’t be afraid to repeat yourself. Between the algorithm and full inboxes, it can take seeing your message multiple times for people to really take notice.

  4. Not having F-U-N!
Okay, I know I sound like a huge nerd by saying this, but social media is supposed to be fun! Some of my clients who have had the most viral posts have nothing really to do with their product and everything to do with just being playful and fun. If your business isn’t really “playful” try and find other aspects that are fun for you, maybe in the creative process, or connecting with customers.

I hope some of these gentle reminders have you fired up to get after your social media strategy. If you’re looking for more inspiration, tips and tricks make sure to check out my IG page here.

Also, I am launching a new program for just this! After selling my mini-courses and doing one on one coaching, I’m combining the two for the ultimate hybrid of leveling up your marketing strategy when you’re a business owner with lots to do.
