Are You Making These 5 Optin-Page Mistakes?

So you’ve created the most epic optin/freebie/lead magnet and can’t wait to share it with the world! You even have all your welcome emails set up and ready to go. But now you need to find a quick and easy way for your audience to get your amazing freebie!!

Having a great optin is essential to growing your email list. But a great optin can not make up for a bad optin-page. If people go to get your freebie and aren’t able to find it, download it, receive it, you’ve not only missed out on a lead but now they have a bad experience associated with your brand. NOT GOOD!

So how do we do this?

Below are 5 things to avoid when building your optin-page:

  1. Your usual Header - You don’t want people landing on this page and then seeing your navigation and getting distracted by your “services” or “about” page.

  2. Your usual Footer - Same goes with your footer. Most websites have a site map on their footer or worse (in this case) their Instagram feed! That is a major distraction. All you need to include in your footer is your privacy policy and terms.

  3. More than one CTA - You have one goal with this page and it is to get people signed up for your freebie. Do not ask them to do anything else. Include only ONE CTA.

  4. Extra graphics - Again, avoid extra graphics or images that will just distract the viewer from completing the sign-up form. This includes andy animations or big files that will cause the site to load slowly.

  5. Including Your Freebie - This is more related to once they’ve signed up, and you direct them to a thank you page or even just a success message. Don’t give them the freebie here, if you do there is less of a chance they will open your email. Instead, use this space to direct them to more of your free content or most popular content.
