6 Ways to Show Up Consistently on Social Media (No Matter What)

When it comes to showing up on your social media platforms as a business owner, being consistent can be one of the toughest jobs. Scheduling posts, coming up with new content and managing all of your platforms can be a lot to handle. Trying to show up as a business owner on social media can sometimes feel like you are just trying to keep all the balls in the air and not drop any of them.

In this post we will cover 6 different ways to help you stay consistent:

1. Pick a schedule and stick to it

As anyone who has ever tried to learn a new skill or exercise regimen can attest, developing and sticking to a schedule is no easy feat. However, the benefits of leading a more organized life are well worth the effort. One of the most important things to remember when trying to develop a schedule is that it should be realistic. If your goal is to work out five times a week but you can only realistically commit to three days, start with that and gradually increase your workout days as you become more comfortable with your new routine. Once you have established a viable schedule, the next step is to stick to it. This can be difficult, especially in our age of social media and constant distractions. However, if you can discipline yourself to stick to your schedule, you will find that your life becomes more efficient and productive. As they say, the best-laid plans often go awry; but with a little planning and effort, you can create a schedule that works for you and helps you achieve your goals.

2. Use tools like Later to help you stay organized

Anyone who's ever tried to juggle more than one social media account knows that it can quickly become a full-time job. Fortunately, there are tools like Hootsuite or Later that can help you stay organized and save time. I personally use Later. Later provides users with a powerful dashboard that allows them to see all of their social media activity in one place. This makes it easy to keep track of who's doing what and where. In addition, Hootsuite provides users with valuable insights into their social media activity, such as which posts are getting the most engagement and which ones are being ignored. With its many features and benefits, Later is an essential tool for anyone who wants to effectively manage their social media presence.

BUT and this is a big but, use what works for you. So if that’s a physical planner, a notebook, or a spreadsheet, use what you know you enjoy working with.

3. Repost old content when necessary

In the age of social media, it's easy to feel like you're always behind the curve. Every day, there's a new algorithm to learn, a new trend to follow, and a new piece of content to produce. But sometimes, the best thing you can do is take a step back and repost old content. That's right - don't be afraid to break out the Wayback Machine and give your followers a blast from the past. After all, everyone loves a good throwback Thursday post. And if you're feeling really ambitious, you can even add a new spin to old content by creating a modern version. This is a great tactic to use old content that performed really well and share it again (trust me I doubt your audience will even notice). So go ahead and raid your archives - your followers will thank you for it.

4. Respond to comments and messages genuinely

It's always a good idea to respond to comments and messages genuinely. after all, you never know when you might need a polite response. Of course, there are times when a sarcastic or humorous response is more appropriate. But in general, it's best to err on the side of politeness. So, the next time you get a message or comment, take a moment to consider your response. A little effort can go a long way in making a good impression. This small interaction can be a game changer in landing more clients and building real connections!

5. Be creative and authentic with your posts

The best way to stand out online is to be yourself - after all, there's only one you! Being creative and authentic (I know this word is overused but it really is important) in your posts will help you attract attention and build a following of people who appreciate your unique voice. Of course, it can be daunting to put yourself out there and risk being rejected. But remember, the only way to fail is to not try at all. So go ahead and be creative and authentic in your posts - you never know who might be inspired by your words.

6. Don't be afraid to experiment

Trying new things can be scary. Whether you're trying a new food or starting a new hobby, there's always a risk that you won't like it. But that's part of the fun! You never know what you might end up liking. And even if you don't like it, at least you can say you tried it. So go out and experiment! Try sharing that idea in your stories or creating that reel idea you’ve been sitting on. You might just surprise yourself.

That’s it for our top tips on how to be successful in social media! Of course, this is just a taste of what you can do - there are endless possibilities when it comes to social media marketing. But if you start with these basics and experiment a little, you should see feel more inspired to show up online. Are there any other tactics that have worked well for you?
